HEALTH SHUTTLES
All shuttles services are available for patients Monday to Friday. Shuttles do not run on Weekends or Public Holidays. Shuttle times will vary.
Health shuttles are available for people who may require transport. The service is usually free for people attending outpatient appointments, parents of children with an appointment at the hospital and carers attending with patients, although a Koha (donation) is always welcomed.
Weekday Kaitaia Bus Service
Kaitaia to Whangarei return
A 21-seater bus travels from Kaitaia to Whangarei Monday to Friday. The bus stops for pickups at Awanui, Inland Road Junction, Taipa, Coopers Beach, Mangonui, Waitaruke, Kaeo, Matauri, Kerikeri, Pakarakaka Junction, Moerewa, Kawakawa, Waiomio Junction and Hikurangi.

Linking Hands Inc. Health Shuttle Services
Head Office Maungaturoto, Branches in Mangawhai and Ruakaka.
Linking Hands is a voluntary service and they rely on donations to run this service. They have vehicles based in Maungaturoto, Mangawhai and Ruakaka and pick up from Matakohe through to south of Kaiwaka up to the Mata Hall, taking clients to Medical Appointments between Warkworth, Whangarei and Dargaville.

Kaipara Community Health Trust Health Shuttle
Local Dargaville service
The Health Shuttle picks people up from their homes and takes them to and from health services in the Dargaville area.

Dargaville to Whangarei Hospital
The Health Shuttle collects you from your home and takes you to meet the West Coast Transport bus. The bus driver will drop you off and collect you from your appointment in Whangarei and will bring you back to Dargaville, where the shuttle will collect you and take you home.

National Travel Assistance
Some people may be able to receive National Travel Assistance for travel reimbursement if they are referred by a hospital specialist and travel a long distances or visit a specialist frequently.
All outpatient clinics such as medical, surgical, radiology, orthopaedics, ENT and the eye clinic have had all mileage claim forms signed by National Travel Assistance Department based in the outpatient clinic.
