Te Whatu Ora welcomes overseas applicants and invites any queries you may have regarding your registration.

To enable you to practice in New Zealand you are firstly required to be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand and secondly to hold a current New Zealand Practising Certificate. Please contact the Medical Council of New Zealand to determine your eligibility for registration.

Immigration Process

If you are not a New Zealand or Australian citizen or resident, you will need to obtain a work or resident visa.

We recommend that you begin this process immediately.
